Safari Options

Choose the Way You Want to Explore Rajaji

Most Popular · All Zones

Jeep Safari

Open 4x4 jeep with a naturalist guide, available in every zone across morning and afternoon/evening shifts. The standard way to see tigers, elephants and the wider reserve.

Seasonal · Limited Slots

Elephant Safari

Where seasonally available, a slower, quieter ride atop a trained elephant reaches terrain a jeep cannot, with less disturbance to nearby wildlife.

Special Permit

Night Safari

Subject to Forest Department clearance in select zones — a chance at nocturnal species such as leopards, civets and owls. Enquire well ahead of your travel date.

Safari Experience

What to Expect Once
Your jeep Rolls Out

Permit check and briefing at a Rajaji safari gate

Gate Formalities

ID and permit verification, plus a short safety briefing from your naturalist before the jeep pulls out.

Forest track drive through Rajaji National Park

Into the Forest

The track winds through sal forest and scrub, with your guide reading pugmarks, calls and fresh signs along the way.

Waterhole and grassland wildlife watch

Waterhole Watch

The route pauses at known grassland or waterhole spots where sightings are most likely, for quiet, unhurried observation.

Safari exit and naturalist debrief

Exit & Recap

Back at the gate, your naturalist runs through everything spotted and is happy to answer questions.

A full safari runs roughly 3–3.5 hours gate-to-gate. Exact pacing varies slightly by zone and shift, and your naturalist adjusts the route around live sightings on the day.

Rajaji Safari Booking — Frequently Asked Questions

  • How far ahead should I book a Rajaji National Park safari?

During peak season (mid-November to February) we recommend booking 2-3 weeks ahead, especially for Chilla zone mornings. March-April needs about a week's notice, and slots are easier to secure from May to mid-June. Last-minute enquiries are still worth sending — we check live availability before saying no.

  • Which Rajaji zone should I choose for my safari?

Chilla and Motichur offer the strongest tiger and elephant activity. Jhilmil Jheel suits birdwatchers and wetland species. Ranipur and Mohand are quieter, less-crowded zones that work well for photographers or Dehradun-based travellers. Tell us what you want to see and we'll suggest the right zone.

  • What documents do I need for a Rajaji safari booking?

Indian nationals need a government photo ID such as Aadhaar or a Voter ID card. Foreign nationals need a valid passport. Carry the original document to the gate, as photocopies are not always accepted for permit verification.

  • Is a tiger sighting guaranteed on a Rajaji safari?

No responsible operator can guarantee a wild sighting. Rajaji has a genuine tiger population, with elephants sighted considerably more often. Morning safaris in Chilla or Motichur during the cooler months generally offer the best odds.

  • How is payment and permit confirmation handled?

Once you share your preferred date, zone and group size, we check live jeep availability and confirm the exact price on WhatsApp. Your Forest Department permit and jeep are secured once payment is made, and confirmation is shared on WhatsApp.

  • Can children and senior citizens join the safari?

Yes. Children and senior citizens are welcome on the jeep safari, seated for the full duration. Let us know if anyone in your group needs extra assistance boarding the jeep so we can plan accordingly.
